Westbank First Nation (WFN) is the tenure holder for the Westbank First Nation Community Forest (WFN-CF) for which this Forest Stewardship Plan has been prepared. The community forest is an area based tenure first established in 2004. WFN initiated timber harvesting on the Community Forest in June of 2005.

Since June of 2005 the Community Forest has operated under the Forest Practices Code of BC Act (FPC). The primary operational document under the FPC was the forest development plan (FDP). The FDP provided very specific details on all proposed roads and blocks.

The Forest Stewardship Plan is a requirement of the Forest and Range Practices Act (FRPA) which came into effect in January 2004 and replaced the 1995 Forest Practices Code Act. The FSP provides strategies and desired results for conserving and protecting timber and non-timber resources. More specifically, the FSP links government objectives with results and strategies.

The FSP approval process starts with a public review and comment period. We have posted a copy of the text and maps below for your review.
